Questa settemana, sto scrivando il Blues Letter da Bella Italia, perque sono in vacanza qui.
Back to English. Before I get to the Blues, I have very important news: My favorite hosiery store in La Serenissima (Venice) is having a two-for-one- sale! Happy Honey hugged the day, appeasable Honey rejoiced! My Italian adventure is a smashing success, and we’ve done much celebrating regarding my great fortune. Oh, and the colors! Well, you’ll see.
Ok, back to Boulder and some Blues and Greens. Thursday welcomes Atomic Pablo for their first Outlook gig, and I need all of you to cover for my big mouth since I can’t be there physically. Spiritually, I’m theirs. And will someone please give Hilary and Paul big hugs from me. Thanks.
Friday night is the return of the Prodigal Daughter of the Outlook, Ms. Delores Scott. Her birthday is Thursday, so the belated celebration should be off the hook with our girl. And it’s bonus night, as you all will be treated to a Short Set from Cassie Taylor from 6:00 to 6:30. Any of the Blues Loyal who’ve yet to take in a Cassie set, I ask, what in the hell is wrong with you?
Back to Delores. Fortunately, I was able to spend some time with her before I left for Italy, and as usual, her enthusiasm and passion are in full swing. She’s such a tremendous performer, that she’s akin to potato chips; you can’t enjoy her just once. For one, her stories are wonderfully riotous, and she peppers her sets with many of them. Gosh, I miss her. Have fun and give her many birthday hugs and kisses. She’ll be back in June, so at least I don’t have to wait too much longer to hear her again.
Saturday night. Well, after all these years of waiting for My Beloved Delta Sonics to release a CD, now that I’m half a world away, it’s happening. I have the CD, Never Enough, and it has quickly become a favorite here with my friends and family (“She’s Crazy” is a universal hit here). Italians are known for their great taste, so buy the CD and join the legions of happy ears on both sides of the Atlantic.
The June schedule will be up soon, but I’ll give you a preview of some of the talent around the corner: John Alex Mason, Jake Loggins Band, Mike Kaylor Band, Shawn Kellerman (CD Release Party), and Randy McAllister, to name but a few.
The July schedule won’t be up for a while, but again, here are a few: Little Joe McLerran (2009 IBC solo/duo winner), Joe Moss, Big Bill Morganfield, Bluez House, Damon Fowler, and Tinsley Ellis. Those are just the ones confirmed. We’ll have a few more surprises for that month.
August, you ask? Ryan McGarvey, Kelly Richey, Johnny Long, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Zora Young, Eden Brent, and possibly Tommy Castro (not confirmed).
My mother is calling me to lunch now, so I need to keep this short. I’m in Italy on vacation, which means food takes priority over everything. As it should.
In closing, I’d just like to state that, once again, I am the luckiest and happiest person alive, with not one, but several marvelous lives to live, in several marvelous locales, with myriad marvelous friends. Thank you all for being a part of it. As much fun as I’m having, I miss you!
